Jackson, MS-The Belhaven offense racked up 496 yards of total offense, but could not overcome Shorter College on Saturday afternoon at H.T. Newell Field in a 55-42 Mid-South Conference Western Division loss to the Hawks. Shorter also had a big day on offense with 468 total yards which included 427 yards rushing. Both teams matched each other score for score, but key turnovers in the second half proved to be costly for Belhaven. Shorter returned two interceptions for touchdowns and recovered a fumbled punt which led to another score helping the Hawks to pull away from the Blazers in the second half.

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven football team is making their final preparations for this weekend’s homecoming game against Shorter College at H.T. Newell Field. Belhaven owns a 3-1 series lead over the Hawks with their only loss in the series being a 35-0 setback last season. The two teams first met in the 2005 season when the Blazers came away with a 45-38 victory.

Jackson, TN-The Belhaven football team lost for the first time in Mid-South Conference Western Division play Saturday afternoon at 5th ranked Lambuth University 54-16. The Blazers were able to stay with the Eagles early down by just 12 points at 28-16 at halftime. However, Lambuth exploded for four unanswered touchdowns in the second half to pull away for the victory.

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven football team will hit the road for the final time this season as they travel to Jackson, TN on Saturday to meet up with the Lambuth University Eagles. Saturday’s battle will be for sole possession of first place in the Mid-South Conference Western Division as both teams own a perfect 4-0 record in division play. This will be the 12th meeting between the two schools with Lambuth holding a 7-4 series lead. The Eagles won last year’s contest at H.T. Newell Field by a final of 63-13.

Saturday’s game was a pivotal Mid-South Conference Western Division contest as the Blazers hang on to first place in the division with the win.

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven football team hits the road this weekend as they travel to Cumberland University for a Mid-South Conference Western Division battle with the Bulldogs. This will be the 11th meeting between the two schools with Cumberland holding a 6-4 advantage in the series that began in 1998. The Bulldogs have won the last two contests including a 46-43 decision at H.T. Newell Field in 2008.

The Blazers held a 20-7 lead with just over two minutes to go in the game, but the Tigers were able to mount a late comeback to pull out the victory in Mid-South Conference cross divisional play.
