Florence, MS-The Belhaven women’s basketball team tipped off the 2009-10 season on Saturday afternoon at Wesley College and came away with an 82-76 win over the Warriors. The Blazers jumped out of the gate strong and held off a late charge by Wesley to secure the victory.

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven women’s basketball team is expecting big things for the 2009-10 season which gets underway on October 31st at Wesley College. The 2008-09 season for the Blazers had its ups and downs but overall was a solid year. Belhaven finished the campaign with an overall record of 17-14 and 8-10 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. The Blazers were fifth in the conference standings and earned a first round bye in the conference tournament.

Hattiesburg, MS-Senior forward Jira Williams of the Belhaven women's basketball team was selected to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Pre-Season All Conference team when the announcement was recently made by the GCAC.

Hattiesburg, MS-The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the results Wednesday night of the Pre-Season Basketball polls as selected by the league’s coaches, and the Belhaven men’s and women’s basketball teams were both picked 6th with 29 and 37 points respectively.

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven Athletics department is pleased to announce the 2009-10 Men's and Women's Basketball schedules. The Belhaven men finished the 2008-09 campaign with an overall record of 18-13 and made a trip to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference tournament semi-finals. The Lady Blazers had a solid 2008-09 season finishing the year with an overall mark of 17-14. The men's and women's teams both open the season on October 31st at Wesley College.

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven Athletics department is pleased to announce Brittany Godsey as the new Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach and Compliance Coordinator. Godsey, a native of Rogersville, Alabama, played four years at Lauderdale County High School and helped guide her team to two State Championships. Godsey went on to play four seasons at NCAA Division II University of North Alabama where she was a standout point guard for the Lady Lions. She earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in English from UNA in 2008.
