New York, NY-Belhaven baseball senior relief pitcher Wade Broyles was selected in the 40th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday afternoon by the Tampa Bay Rays. Broyles was the 1,211th overall pick in this year’s draft which is conducted over a span of three days and is comprised of 50 rounds. Broyles is the third Blazer in the past two years to be drafted joining Chanse Cooper and Craig Westcott who were drafted last year.

Lewiston, ID-The Belhaven baseball team saw their season come to a close on Monday afternoon at the 2010 Avista NAIA World Series losing to Embry-Riddle University 8-4 in an elimination game at Harris Field. The Blazers jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning, but the Eagles put together a four run third which helped propel them to the victory. Belhaven also struggled on defense with four errors which resulted in six of the eight Embry-Riddle runs being unearned.

Lewiston, ID-The Belhaven baseball team upset the defending national champion Lubbock Christian University 3-2 on Saturday morning in the losers bracket of the 2010 Avista NAIA World Series at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho. It's the first time in the 54 year history of the World Series that a defending champion has been eliminated in two games. The Blazers, the number eight seed in the tournament, blasted three home runs to account for all their scoring in the contest. The win was the 44th of the season and ties the Belhaven record for most wins in a season when the team went 44-17 in 2007.

Lewiston, ID-The Belhaven baseball team fell to Point Loma Nazarene University 9-1 in their opening game of the 2010 Avista NAIA Baseball World Series on Friday afternoon at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho. The Blazers could muster only six hits and failed to take advantage of four Point Loma errors early the game and ended up stranding nine men on the base paths. Point Loma starting pitcher Chad Blauer settled in and struck out 11 Belhaven hitters en route to the victory.

The 10 team double elimination world series is hosted by Lewis-Clark State College at Harris Field.

Kansas City, MO-The Belhaven baseball team was tabbed as the 8th seed for the 2010 Avista NAIA World Series when it was announced by the NAIA on Friday night. The series will be played in Lewiston, ID May28th through June 4th and is hosted by Lewis-Clark State College. The Blazers will open the series against the number nine seed Point Loma Nazarene University on Friday at Noon (PDT). The winner will take on top seeded Lewis-Clark State College on Saturday night at 7:00 PM (PDT).
