Clinton, MS-The Belhaven men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Mississippi College Season Opener meet on Wednesday afternoon at Choctaw trails. The Blazer women finished 8th out of a 12 team field while the men also finished 8th in a nine team field. The women logged a team time of 20:51.37 in the 4k event and the men compiled a team total time of 21:10 in the 5k run. Grambling State University won both the men’s and women’s events with times of 1:24:26.93 and 1:26:02.27 respectively.

Jackson, MS- The Belhaven Volleyball team rolled over the Tougaloo Bulldogs Tuesday night at Tougaloo College. The Blazers defeated the Bulldogs in three sets with final scores of 25-6, 25-1, and 25-9 in what the first match in program history for Tougaloo who is fielding a team for the first time this year. Belhaven controlled the match from start to finish as they go to 3-0 on the season while the Bulldogs drop to 0-1.

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven football team turned in an impressive showing on Saturday night as the Blazers dominated Texas College 58-3 for their first win of 2010. Belhaven rolled up 462 yards of total offense while holding the Steers to only 59 total yards in the contest. The Blazers had three rushing touchdowns on the night which matched their season total from a season ago. Overall, it was a balanced attack on the offensive side of the ball with 172 yards coming on the ground and 290 through the air.

New Orleans, LA-The Belhaven volleyball team earned a pair of season opening victories Saturday afternoon at the Xavier University (LA) tri-match. The Blazers upended the host Xavier in three sets with final scores of 25-20, 25-14, and 25-16. Belhaven followed that up with a 3-1 triumph against NCAA Division I Alabama State with set scores of 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, and 25-21.
