Joel Thornton, Jr., became the
Director of Sports Information in May, having previously
performed a variety of athletic department duties ranging from
volunteer to intern. His responsibilities include media
relations and sports marketing, statistics, athletic
department publications, and maintaining the athletics website.
Thornton is a 2005 Belhaven
graduate, with a degree in Sports Administration. He is a
veteran of Desert Storm and served twelve years in
the Mississippi Army National Guard.

Daniel Hearn enters his second year as
Assistant Sports Information Director. Hearn’s strong character
and leadership abilities were the keys to a smooth transition as
a new Sports Information Director was named in the middle of the
past school year.
Hearn graduated from Belhaven in 2005 with
a degree in Sports Administration. He was a also a four year
starter for the Blazer baseball team.
Daniel is currently pursuing a Master of
Business Administration degree at Belhaven.
